One of the most important rooms in your home to get the lighting plan right is undoubtedly the kitchen. The kitchen, just like the bathroom, has many uses - more than just cooking food - so making sure you have enough sources of light to suit every situation is a must. Installing a singular ceiling light for your kitchen just won’t suffice, as they don’t have enough light output to allow you to carry out certain tasks safely and effectively. But what types of kitchen lighting will you need to complete your lighting plan?
When creating a lighting plan for your kitchen, try to include at least three different sources of lighting if the space allows. As a guide, you should include a ceiling light, under cabinet lighting and wall lights. Rise and fall light fittings are a great choice for the kitchen, as they can be placed over kitchen islands and breakfast bars and adjusted when required; however if you don’t have a breakfast bar or island, a simple ceiling pendant or series of downlights will satisfy your needs. Under cabinet lighting, or under shelf lighting as it’s sometimes referred to, can be installed under your kitchen cabinets to illuminate the worktop to allow you to prepare food more clearly.
Our collection of kitchen lighting is supplied by a handful of the industries leading brands, with Searchlight, Dar Lighting and Astro Lighting being amongst the most popular choices.
